This is a studio apartment area in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, on the night of the 20th.
The person wearing a wide-brimmed hat, a long dress, and pulling a carrier is a Chinese man in his 20s, surnamed Jeong, who was arrested for allegedly murdering a female Chinese exchange student in her 20s.
CCTV footage captured him leaving the house disguised as a woman after killing the victim in an apparent attempt to throw off the investigation.
[Police Official: He wore women's clothes like the victim, carried the victim's carrier, and held the victim's phone. When we asked the taxi driver, he said it was a woman, so we thought that person was the victim.]
Earlier, the 25-year-old Chinese woman who had entered the house with Jeong was found dead inside.
While questioning Jeong—who was the initial person to report the missing person—as a reference witness, police grew suspicious of his statements and pressed him further. During this process, police reportedly secured a confession that Jeong strangled the woman to death.
Investigations revealed that Jeong worked as a part-time lecturer at the graduate school where the victim took classes.
Police applied charges of murder against Jeong, alongside obstruction of official duties by fraudulent means for disrupting the investigation through a false missing person report.
Police are currently conducting search operations based on Jeong's statement that he mutilated parts of the victim's body and discarded them in multiple locations, including Daegu and Gyeonggi Province.
Police are also considering conducting a psychopath diagnostic test on Jeong.
The results of Jeong's pre-arrest interrogation of a suspect, held at the Daegu District Court this morning, are expected to be released late this afternoon.
