President Lee Jae-myung will preside over an emergency inspection meeting to check for any casualties or damage among South Korean citizens following massive floods and landslides in the border region between Nepal and China's Tibet.

Kang Yu-jung, senior presidential spokesperson, announced that President Lee has postponed the scheduled meeting of senior secretaries and advisors at the presidential office today (August 27) to preside over the emergency inspection meeting regarding the Nepal floods.

Additionally, a scheduled invitation luncheon with lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Korea, which was set for tomorrow (August 28), has also been postponed.

"This decision was made considering that we are focusing all our efforts on ensuring the safety of our citizens," spokesperson Kang explained.

Massive floods hit the Himalayan mountainous region in north-central Nepal near the Chinese border, leaving 100 people dead and some 480 others missing, including around 390 foreigners.

Currently, nine South Koreans have lost contact, while another 10 South Koreans who were temporarily isolated have been confirmed to be safe.
