Traffic fines and penalties are projected to reach a record high of 1.5 trillion won this year.

According to the Korean National Police Agency, traffic fines and penalties imposed for traffic violations reached 857.2 billion won through July of this year.

This is a 5.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

If this trend continues, the total annual amount imposed is expected to reach a record level of 1.5 trillion won.

Why are there so many rule violations? Well, almost everyone has a dashcam in their car these days, right?

Furthermore, unmanned enforcement equipment has become more dense, creating an environment that constantly monitors the roads.

In fact, citizen surveillance, which catches and reports actual violations, is steadily taking place at an average of around 10,000 cases per day.

With high-quality footage and easy reporting procedures these days, the rate of reports leading to disciplinary actions is also increasing.

In addition, the police have been increasing unmanned enforcement cameras—which monitor speeding and signal violations—by about 1,000 units every year from 2018 until last year.

Due to this dense surveillance network on the roads, an increasing number of drivers are reportedly studying enforcement standards in advance through YouTube content.

Above all, the most important thing is not to violate the regulations.
