It has been confirmed that a Chinese university lecturer in his 30s, surnamed Jeong, who is facing a request for an arrest warrant on charges including murder for killing a female Chinese exchange student in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, has partially confessed to the allegations during police interrogation.

According to the Gyeongsan Police Station in North Gyeongsang Province today, Jeong stated during police questioning that he killed the victim, 25-year-old A, in the early hours of the 20th.

The deceased, A, was last captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in front of suspect Jeong's home at around 2:00 AM on the 20th.

Police investigations also revealed that A had her last contact with her family in China around that same time.

Police maintain the stance that the exact time of the murder requires further confirmation through methods such as an autopsy.

Jeong is reportedly being relatively cooperative with the police investigation and is making statements regarding the crime.

Following the previous day's inspection of Jeong's residence and other locations, the police additionally verified his movements related to the crime and the location where the body was abandoned.

Earlier, the police requested an arrest warrant for Jeong the previous afternoon, citing concerns over the destruction of evidence and flight.

The substantive warrant review is expected to be held as early as the 28th.

Jeong, who is accused of murdering the 20-something Chinese female exchange student who entered the country to receive her graduate school completion certificate, was apprehended by the police on the street in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan at 7:29 PM on the 25th.

The police are coordinating the schedule for an autopsy on the victim's body and expect that the exact time and cause of death will be revealed through the autopsy.
