Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Yun-deok and Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon met again over housing supply in Yongsan Park, but failed to narrow their differences. Yongsan will not be included in the government's pre-announced plan to supply more than 73,000 additional housing units.

Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Yun-deok and Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon met again six days later to discuss the issue of housing supply in Yongsan Park.

However, they once again failed to reach an agreement.

Mayor Oh maintained his firm stance that the entire Yongsan Park site must be preserved.

[Oh Se-hoon / Mayor of Seoul: Yongsan Park must be protected under any circumstances. The entire main site must be preserved. I made this point very clear. Other than that, we will flexibly review other proposals from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as much as possible.]

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also maintained its existing stance that housing for young adults and newlywed couples can be supplied in some damaged areas, expressing its intention to go through a public debate process.

[Kim Yun-deok / Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport: There was never a strict requirement that it must be Yongsan Park from the beginning. However, we recognize that supplying housing for our young people and newlywed couples is currently very crucial.]

The government previously announced additional housing supply of 73,000 units plus alpha during the August 13 supply measures. Amid failing to narrow differences with the Seoul city government, Yongsan Park and greenbelt areas in Seoul are not expected to be included.

However, Minister Kim noted that Yongsan Park was never part of the 73,000 units in the first place, hinting that the additional announcement will proceed as scheduled.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated that it is continuing to review plans for utilizing Yongsan Park and that whether to announce it within the year has not yet been decided, showing its determination to continue persuading the Seoul metropolitan government.

Mayor Oh also mentioned that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is proactively reviewing a 1.2-fold increase in the floor area ratio for redevelopment, while the Ministry showed a slight temperature difference by stating that nothing specific has been decided.

Regarding the plan proposed by Mayor Oh to utilize the Tancheon Water Reclamation Center, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport decided to review it actively.

The two officials plan to meet again next week to continue further discussions.
