The Presidential Security Service announced today (the 26th) that it has formed the "Communication Staff," an independent internal communication and criticism body functioning as an ombudsman system.

The initiative is aimed at invigorating healthy internal communication and establishing a horizontal organizational culture.

The Communication Staff is composed of working-level employees and will be re-selected every six months.

According to the Presidential Security Service, the staff will directly deliver frontline perspectives—such as areas for improvement and strategic response tasks necessary for organizational development—through official and unofficial meetings with Hwang In-kwon, the Head of the Presidential Security Service.

Following a series of incidents, such as the obstruction of the execution of an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk Yeol last year, calls emerged within the security service for the need to improve an overly rigid organizational atmosphere centered on strict obedience to superiors.

Since then, the security service has continued its reform efforts, including implementing constitutional education for all employees starting last year.

The formation of the Communication Staff is interpreted in the same context.

Head Hwang In-kwon stated, "Through the Communication Staff, which guarantees thorough autonomy, we will not only spread a horizontal and dynamic organizational culture but also leverage strengthened internal communication to dedicate even greater efforts toward realizing an 'open security service' for the public."
