A well-known doctor who gained recognition through appearances on major broadcasting networks has been arrested by police for illegally filming women near Yongsan Station.

According to police on the 25th, the Yongsan Police Station arrested a male university hospital doctor, identified as A, back in April on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (utilizing cameras or other devices for filming).

On Saturday, April 11, Dr. A was caught red-handed at the scene by police after being reported by a victim's family member for secretly filming the bodies of two women with his smartphone in front of Yongsan Station.

When police conducted a digital forensic analysis of Dr. A's smartphone, they additionally discovered photos of 8 to 9 other women suspected to have been illegally filmed over the span of several years.

Police forwarded Dr. A to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office in June, but the Western District Prosecutors' Office issued a suspension of indictment that same month.

A suspension of indictment is a disposition in which a crime is deemed established, but the suspect is not sent to trial after considering various circumstances such as the motive of the crime, whether the suspect shows remorse, and settlement.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that the doctor in question submitted his resignation to his affiliated university hospital and is no longer working there.
