U.S. President Donald Trump has once again posted photos of himself with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on social media. It serves as a call for dialogue, but the statement released by the foreign ministers of South Korea and the United States following their telephone conversation late the night before yesterday made no mention of "denuclearization."

U.S. President Donald Trump uploaded three photos of himself with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un consecutively to his social media on local time yesterday.

One photo shows them walking together at a hotel in Singapore during the first North Korea-U.S. summit in June 2018, while the other two are from their meeting at Panmunjom in June 2019.

This marks the third time since last June that President Trump has posted photographs featuring Kim Jong-un.

He has notably never posted pictures from the February 2019 Hanoi summit, which collapsed without any tangible results and could be considered a dark chapter for Kim Jong-un.

While President Trump continues to send signals to Chairman Kim urging a resumption of dialogue, the foreign ministers of South Korea and the United States held a phone conversation lasting about 30 minutes.

Foreign Minister Cho Hyun emphasized the government's role as a "pacemaker," stating that Seoul will do its utmost to ensure that President Trump's recent messages lead to the resumption of North Korea-U.S. dialogue and peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Following the phone call, the U.S. Department of State issued a brief two-sentence statement, noting only that Secretary of State Rubio highlighted the need for both nations to maintain close coordination on critical alliance issues.

Neither side's released statements contained any mention of "denuclearization."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained the situation as follows:

[Interview / Park Doosun / Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is a consistent position maintained between South Korea and the United States. The government will continue to pour efforts into achieving substantive progress in resolving the North Korean nuclear issue.]

North Korea has shown no particular reaction following the consecutive public statements toward the United States and the South released by Kim Yo-jong, the sister of Kim Jong-un, on the 19th and 20th, suggesting Pyongyang has entered another phase of reflection.
