The coaching staff for the national baseball team, which is challenging for the championship at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, has been finalized.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) and the Korea Softball Baseball Association (KBSA) announced the coaching staff today.

Kang In-kwon, a quality control (QC) coach for the professional baseball team Hanwha Eagles, has been appointed as the head coach to assist Manager Ryu Ji-hyun.

Head Coach Kang has previously served as manager of the NC Dinos and also served as head coach at the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) held earlier this year.

Choi Won-ho, former manager of Hanwha, has been appointed as pitching coach, and Lee Dong-wook, former manager of NC, has been appointed as defensive coach.

Both coaches also served as QC coach and defensive coach, respectively, at the 2026 WBC.

Park Kyung-su, QC and baserunning coach for the KT Wiz, will take on the role of hitting and QC coach; Choi Tae-won, manager of Kyung Hee University, will serve as strategy coach; and Choi Ki-moon, head coach of the Ulsan Whales, will serve as battery coach.

Manager Ryu Ji-hyun and the coaching staff held their first official meeting at the KBO in Dogok-dong, Seoul, on the 24th, where they discussed future schedules related to the tournament and the analysis of the strengths of key opposing nations.

The coaching staff and the 24-member squad will gather at a designated accommodation on the 14th of next month, followed by official training and practice matches at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul from the 15th to the 17th.

They will then depart for the competition venue in Nagoya, Japan, on the 18th to undergo local adaptation training on the 19th and 20th.

They are scheduled to play their Group B preliminary matches against Taiwan on the 21st, Hong Kong on the 22nd, and Thailand on the 23rd, followed by two Super Round matches on the 25th and 26th, the medal matches on the 27th, and return home on the 28th.
