The Netflix series "The Scandal," starring actors Son Ye-jin, Ji Changwook, and Nana, is set to be released on September 18.

"The Scandal" tells the story of Lady Cho (Son Ye-jin), a woman of exceptional talent constrained by the framework of Joseon-era society, and Jo-won (Ji Changwook), the ultimate romanticist of Joseon, as they engage in a love wager that Hee-yeon (Nana) becomes entangled in.

The project adapts French author Pierre Choderlos de Laclos's 1782 novel "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" into the Joseon Dynasty. The work was previously made into the 2003 film "Untold Scandal," which achieved box office success by drawing over 3.5 million moviegoers despite its restricted rating.

This series is directed by Jung Ji-woo, well-known for the films "Happy End" and "Eungyo," offering a fresh, modern perspective on the original story. It aims to vividly portray characters driven by their own desires and identities as they make their own choices amidst the taboos and restrictions of Joseon.

Released on the 25th, the teaser poster features Lady Cho sitting in the main quarters where red flowers are in full bloom, Jo-won posing with a relaxed expression reminiscent of a figure in a portrait of a beauty, and Hee-yeon wearing a sorrowful expression among plum blossoms. The traditional mis-en-scene surrounding the three, combined with the tagline "Claim what cannot be had," hints at the dangerous nature of the wager binding them together.

The teaser trailer captures the beginning of a wager that shakes Bukchon, the residential area of the noble class. With a gaze that seems to see through everything, Lady Cho proposes the wager, and Jo-won accepts it with a look filled with desire. In contrast, Hee-yeon displays fear as she gets caught up in the two people's wager.

As scenes alternate between Jo-won approaching Hee-yeon to win the wager and Lady Cho watching over them, the subtle tension among the three escalates. Curiosity builds over how Jo-won's approach will alter Hee-yeon's fate and what desires led Lady Cho to initiate this wager.

"The Scandal" will be available on Netflix starting September 18.
