Police have launched an investigation after a foreign woman in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province, threw multiple cats out of a window, causing them to die.
The Gimhae Jungbu Police Station announced today (the 25th) that it has booked a woman in her 20s of Uzbek nationality, referred to as Person A, without detention on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act.
Person A is accused of throwing four kittens out of the window from the 5th floor of a villa in Gimhae last month, causing their deaths.
She committed the crime after purchasing or adopting kittens that were about two months old from pet shops or social networking services (SNS).
Person A stated to the police that she suffered from depression and threw the cats out of the window whenever she was in a bad mood.
After becoming aware of these acts, the Busan Animal Love Stray Cat Protection Solidarity filed a complaint against Person A with the police on the 21st.
Police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident based on the complaint submitted by the animal protection group and Person A's statements.
