Major League Baseball (MLB) club the Houston Astros have parted ways with their general manager in the middle of the season.

Houston announced today that they are parting ways with General Manager Dana Brown by mutual agreement.

For the remainder of the season, the duties of the general manager will be shared by Jeff Bagwell and assistant general managers, while overall baseball operations will be overseen directly by Owner Jim Crane.

As of today, Houston holds a record of 65 wins and 66 losses with a winning percentage of 0.496, tied with the Texas Rangers for first place in the American League (AL) West.

However, the parting with GM Brown comes right after the team slumped to 3 wins and 6 losses during a recent nine-game homestand, dropping their winning percentage below the .500 mark.

Brown took the helm and led the team for four years, succeeding former GM James Click, whose contract was not renewed after Houston won the World Series in 2022.

Owner Crane stated, "Brown won two division titles and put in great effort toward scouting and player development. We thank him for his dedication and passion."

Brown, who was effectively dismissed, delivered his farewell remarks, saying, "I thank Owner Crane for giving me my first opportunity as a general manager, and I also thank the fans who welcomed my family and made Houston feel like home."
