A fire broke out at a basement apartment unit in a villa located in Juan-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, at around 1:30 AM today (August 25).

One woman in her 80s sustained minor injuries from the fire and was transported to the hospital.

Nine residents living in the same villa evacuated, while four of them showed symptoms of smoke inhalation and received treatment.

Firefighters dispatched to the scene after receiving a report extinguished the fire within 25 minutes.

Police and fire authorities estimate that the fire started when a lit candlestick in the home was knocked over, and they plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
