Police are investigating after the bodies of a man and a woman in their 60s were found inside a studio apartment in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province.

At around 8:00 AM today (August 24), A and an acquaintance, a woman identified as B, were found dead inside A's studio apartment in a multi-family housing unit in Siheung.

At the scene, a note-like memo believed to have been written by A expressing pessimism about life was found, and no unusual signs, such as traces of external intrusion, were detected.

Based on the condition of the bodies, police presume that A strangled B to death and then took his own life.

Earlier, police received a missing person report from B's family at around 8:00 PM yesterday (August 23), 12 hours before the bodies were discovered, and began searching for B's whereabouts.

After checking CCTV footage showing B entering an alley near A's home at around 7:30 AM on the same day, police conducted door-to-door inquiries at surrounding multi-family housing units.

Among them, they narrowed down households where the residents' whereabouts could not be verified, tracked mobile phone locations, forcibly opened the front door of A's studio apartment where suspicious circumstances were identified, and discovered the bodies of the two people.

A and B had recently become acquainted, and there was no history of police reports between them.

Police plan to request an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death.

A police official stated, "At this point, we presume it is a murder-suicide case, but we cannot make a final conclusion until the autopsy results come out," adding, "We plan to investigate with all possibilities open."
