The second World Humanoid Robot Games is currently underway in China.

The competition kicked off on the 22nd and runs through the 26th, featuring 666 teams and 2,056 robots from 16 countries competing in 1,301 matches across 51 events to showcase their technology.

During the event, the humanoid robot Tiangong Ultra crossed the finish line in the 100-meter preliminaries with a time of 9.39 seconds.

This is 0.19 seconds faster than the 100-meter world record of 9.58 seconds set by human track athlete Usain Bolt in 2009.

Another robot, Lightning, also crossed the finish line in 9.47 seconds, posting a time faster than Bolt.

However, alongside these remarkable records, challenges that still need to be addressed during the competition were also revealed.

After crossing the finish line, some robots lost their balance and fell straight onto protective mats, and they were also captured being loaded onto stretchers with human help and carried off the field.
