A man in his 20s is facing a critical juncture regarding his arrest after entering the women's changing room at Caribbean Bay while wearing a wig and illegally filming women changing clothes.

The Suwon District Court held a pre-trial detention hearing for the suspect, identified as A, who faces charges under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes, at around 10:30 a.m. today.

A remained silent in response to reporters' questions, such as "Do you admit to the illegal filming charges?", "Why did you enter the women's changing room?", and "When did you plan the crime?"

Police investigations have revealed specific details of A's crimes.

A, who is unemployed, is accused of secretly entering the women's changing room at Caribbean Bay in Everland, Yongin, on two occasions—in mid-July and on July 30—and illegally filming users changing clothes.

It was revealed that A committed the crimes with an androgynous appearance, wearing a short-cut wig, sunglasses, and a face mask.

Police have confirmed some of the illegally filmed videos taken during the crime from the storage media used by A.

A reportedly stated during police questioning that he "filmed out of curiosity for personal viewing and did not distribute the videos externally."

Previously, around 4:40 p.m. on July 30, A was wandering inside the women's changing room with his face covered, arousing suspicion among visitors, and fled when a water park employee asked for identification.

Police received a report that same day, launched an investigation, emergency arrested him on the 21st—about 20 days after he fled—and requested an arrest warrant the next day, the 22nd.

Caribbean Bay previously became the center of controversy in August 2015 when illegally filmed footage taken inside the women's shower and changing rooms was circulated on an adult website.
