Hwang Jeong-soo of the Daegu Facilities Corporation has set a new Korean record and a record tying the unofficial world mark by hitting all 36 targets in the men's general skeet finals at the Changwon Mayor's Cup National Shooting Competition.

Hwang claimed the title on the 23rd by shooting a perfect score of 36 points in the men's general shotgun skeet finals held at the Changwon International Shooting Range in Gyeongsangnam-do.

After advancing to the finals with 114 points in the preliminaries, he showed unshakable focus to hit every target.

With this victory, Hwang surpassed the previous Korean record of 34 points set by Jang Ja-yong of the Changwon City Government last April by 2 points, becoming the new record holder.

Although it is not officially recognized by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) because it is a domestic competition, he matched the world record of 36 points set by shotgun shooting legend Vincent Hancock of the United States last July.

Having already held the preliminary Korean record of 124 points set in 2014, Hwang now holds both the preliminary and final Korean skeet records with this tournament.

Through the Korea Shooting Federation, Hwang shared his determination, saying, "I will aim for good results in the upcoming Presidential Security Service Chief's Cup and the National Sports Festival."

Teammate Ko Geun-oh of the Daegu Facilities Corporation won the silver medal with 34 points, tying the previous Korean record, while the bronze medal went to Kim Min-su of the Changwon City Government with 29 points.

The Changwon Mayor's Cup National Shooting Competition, which also serves as a selection event for the 2027 national team and candidate athletes, continues until the 28th.
