Police have launched a full-scale investigation into Incheon Yeongjong District Mayor Son Hwa-jung, who has been embroiled in suspicions including alleged false residential registration.

It has been confirmed that the Incheon Yeongjong Police Station recently carried out search and seizure procedures to secure relevant materials to verify allegations that Mayor Son violated the Public Official Election Act.

Mayor Son was reported to the police during the June 3 local elections amid suspicions involving false residential registration, career history, and tax payments.

The complainant side claims that Mayor Son publicized false information by acting as if she resided in the Yeongjong area when she actually did not.

A police official stated, "We have finished questioning the complainant and are in the stage of securing materials to verify the facts."
