The People Power Party (PPP) has withheld its decision on the plan pushed by Leader Jang Dong-hyuk to entirely re-elect all 254 local party chapter heads nationwide during today's Supreme Council meeting.

The agenda item is expected to be re-submitted to the Supreme Council as early as the 27th, after which a decision on its approval will be made.

Senior Spokesperson Park Sung-hoon stated in a briefing that Leader Jang decided not to submit the agenda item and instead discuss it again at the next Supreme Council meeting.

Spokesperson Park stated, "Initially, the direct party member election system for chapter heads was an idea born out of the process of establishing the party's direction and identity—aiming to reorganize the structure and transform it into a party capable of properly fighting the next general election. However, with the sincerity being distorted in some quarters, it was judged that it was still too premature to reach a conclusion today."

Initially, Leader Jang sought to push for the adoption of the "direct party member election system for local party chapter heads" at today's Supreme Council meeting.

However, with around 40 lawmakers voicing opposition during general meetings held over two consecutive days last week, and Floor Leader Chung Jeom-sik conveying these views to the Supreme Council on behalf of the lawmakers, additional opinions are expected to be gathered until the next Supreme Council meeting.
