HYBE's U.S.-Korea joint girl group KATSEYE has reached the top of the main U.S. Billboard album chart, the Billboard 200, with their third mini-album "WILD."

Billboard announced in a preview article for the chart on the 22nd, local time, that KATSEYE's "WILD" debuted at number one, surpassing Phoebe Bridgers' "LOST WEEKEND" and Stray Kids' "THIS & THAT."

This marks the first time KATSEYE has claimed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 since their debut in 2024.

It is also the fourth time a female group has topped the Billboard chart since 2020, following BLACKPINK's "Born Pink" (2022), NewJeans' "Get Up" (2023), and TWICE's "With YOU-th" (2024).

The Billboard 200 ranks albums based on "equivalent album units," which combine traditional album sales, streaming equivalent albums (SEA), and track equivalent albums (TEA).

"WILD" recorded 170,000 equivalent album units during the latest tracking week.

Among them, album sales accounted for 145,000 units, claiming the number one spot on the Top Album Sales chart this week.

SEA stood at 24,500 units, and TEA at 500 units.

"WILD" is an album that portrays KATSEYE embracing their inner selves as they are and moving toward instinct and freedom, featuring "Hootie Frutti" as the title track.

Renowned producers, including HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, pop star Ed Sheeran, Omer Fedi, and Blake Slatkin, participated in the songwriting.

The album previously signaled its box-office success by peaking at number two on the UK Official Albums Chart Top 100, marking KATSEYE's highest ranking on the chart to date.

KATSEYE is a group formed through the survival program "The Debut: Dream Academy," a joint venture between HYBE and Geffen Records under Universal Music in the United States.

Having debuted in the U.S. in 2024 with hit songs like "Gnarly" and "Gabriela," they were nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards in February of this year.

Previously, K-pop girl groups BLACKPINK, NewJeans, and TWICE, as well as boy groups BTS, SuperM, Stray Kids, ATEEZ, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), have topped the Billboard 200.

The original soundtrack (OST) album for the Netflix animated film "K-Pop: Demon Hunters" has also claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

Meanwhile, Stray Kids' "THIS & THAT," which topped the Billboard 200 the previous week, fell two spots to number three with 82,000 equivalent album units.
