South Korean national team midfielder Lee Jae-sung, who plays for Mainz in the German Bundesliga, has recorded an assist in his first official match of the season.

Starting as a right winger in the 2026-2027 DFB-Pokal first-round away match against VfB Stuttgart at the Sportpark Cleebronn in Cleebronn, Germany, Lee played for about 62 minutes, notching one assist and helping lead his team to a resounding 9-0 victory.

In the 39th minute of the first half, Lee controlled an aerial ball cleanly with his chest before delivering a precise pass to Nadiem Amiri, who was surging toward the goalmouth.

Amiri easily finished it off with a touch of his foot, extending Mainz's lead to 3-0.

This marks Lee's first attacking point of the new season, following a stellar campaign last year where he established himself as a core player for the team with 6 goals and 4 assists across 39 official matches.

Mainz, which already held a 4-0 lead by halftime, dominated the match from start to finish against Cleebronn, an amateur club from the fifth tier.

Starting striker Phillip Tietz put on a stellar performance, scoring four goals, including the opening goal in the 19th minute of the first half.

Amiri also scored multiple goals, while Sheraldo Becker, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer, and William Böving contributed to the scoresheet as Mainz completed the blowout win.
