Dr. Park Jong-seok, a psychiatrist specializing in stock addiction treatment, noted that compared to last year, patients visiting hospitals due to stock-related issues increased from late June to early July of this year. He stated that while adults in their 20s and 30s previously accounted for less than 15% of patients, they now make up more than half.
The problem is that these young people are often experiencing such a downturn and heavy financial losses for the first time, leading to severe psychological distress.
Professor Yoon Dae-hyun of Seoul National University Hospital analyzed that if individuals suffered massive losses—such as using leverage or even taking on debt—their stress would be even greater.
Experts advise that when experiencing such stress, individuals should temporarily reduce or stop investment activities and distance themselves from social media, which often leads to comparisons with others.
