Dobong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Dong-wook) announced on August 21 that its tax arrear management team has initiated immediate enforcement measures, such as applying "wheel locks," against vehicles attempting to evade the seizure of their license plates.

During a recent field investigation into vehicle tax delinquencies, the district's management team discovered a vehicle with its license plate fixed using screws and glue to prevent plate seizure, and applied enforcement actions including a wheel lock to the vehicle.

The district stated, "This is aimed at persistently tracking down and collecting taxes from those trying to evade enforcement through intentional tricks," adding, "We plan to strengthen actions against habitual and chronic defaulters by mobilizing various measures permitted under the law."

License plate seizure is an administrative disposition in which authorities remove and confiscate the license plates of vehicles belonging to individuals who have failed to pay taxes such as vehicle taxes.
