▲ Daejeon players celebrate a goal with Róbison (No. 11)
Professional football club Daejeon Hana Citizen claimed their first win of the season against Gangwon FC, capitalizing on a numerical advantage.
Daejeon cruised to a 3-0 victory over Gangwon with consecutive goals by Róbison, Joo Min-kyu, and Jaehee in the Hana Bank K League 1 2026 Round 24 home match held at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium yesterday (the 23rd).
With this win, Daejeon reached 29 points (7 wins, 8 draws, and 9 losses).
Although they remained in 10th place, they secured their first win against Gangwon this season after suffering two previous losses.
Fourth-place Gangwon, who had to play with 10 men after midfielder Seo Min-woo was sent off in the 42nd minute of the first half while the match was tied 0-0, stayed put at 35 points (9 wins, 8 draws, and 6 losses).
On this day, Gangwon manager Jung Kyung-ho was unable to sit on the bench due to accumulated yellow cards, leaving coach Park Yong-ho to lead the team.
Daejeon expressed regret early in the match when Um Won-sang drove the ball down to the right side of the penalty area near the end line in the 5th minute of the first half and fired a powerful right-footed shot from a tight angle, only to hit the goalpost.
Both teams had to use early substitution cards due to injuries to their forwards.
Gangwon substituted Choi Byeong-chan with Keonhee first in the 21st minute of the first half, and Daejeon followed by replacing Um Won-sang with Jaehee in the 36th minute of the first half.
Gangwon was dealt a further blow in the 42nd minute of the first half when midfielder Seo Min-woo was sent off.
During an aerial duel in the midfield area, Seo Min-woo's sole made contact with Jaehee's head, and the referee issued a red card to Seo following a video review.
Jaehee continued to play afterwards with a bandage wrapped around his head.
After finishing the first half scoreless, Daejeon brought on forward Masa at the start of the second half, replacing midfielder Kim Jun-beom.
Gangwon switched to a back three by replacing Ko Young-jun and Kang Jun-hyeok with Lee Ki-hyuk and Kim Do-hyun.
Daejeon's substitution strategy paid off just two minutes into the second half with the opening goal.
Jaehee crossed the ball from the right side to the center of the penalty box, and Masa delivered a delicate touch through a tight defense to push it left, allowing Róbison to smash a left-footed one-touch shot into the Gangwon net.
Daejeon extended their lead further in the 11th minute of the second half with an additional goal from Joo Min-kyu.
Kim Bong-su sent a cross from the opponent's right side, which Róbison headed from the left side of the goal area, and Joo Min-kyu met it with a header right in front of the goal.
It was Joo Min-kyu's third consecutive match with a goal and his fifth of the season.
With momentum on their side, Daejeon stunned Gangwon in the 21st minute of the second half when Lee Myung-jae sent a pass from the left side of the box into the goalmouth, and Jaehee rushed forward to direct it in with his right foot for the clinching goal.
At the Gwangju World Cup Stadium, Incheon United defeated home team Gwangju FC 1-0 thanks to Mugosa's late penalty kick winner during stoppage time in the second half.
Incheon, which had been held to three consecutive draws recently, extended their unbeaten run to 6 matches (3 wins, 3 draws) and raised their points to 33 (9 wins, 6 draws, 8 losses), climbing from 8th to 6th place.
Bottom-placed Gwangju remained stuck on 11 points (1 win, 8 draws, 15 losses) as they failed once again to escape their winless slump.
Gwangju continued a 22-match winless streak (7 draws, 15 losses) since winning 3-2 in their Round 2 home match against Incheon United on March 7.
Incheon thought they scored through Lee Chung-yong in the 16th minute of the second half, but the goal was ruled out because Pereira was previously in an offside position.
However, in the 50th minute of the second half, Mugosa calmly converted a right-footed penalty kick earned by Choi Seung-gu following a foul by Gwangju's Kim Woo-jin, settling the match.
