Ahead of the regular session of the National Assembly, President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to meet with the leadership and all lawmakers of the Democratic Party of Korea at Cheong Wa Dae this week.
On the 25th, President Lee will invite the newly formed leadership of the Democratic Party to Cheong Wa Dae for a dinner meeting.
Attendees are expected to include Party Leader Kim Min-seok, Floor Leader Han Byeong-do, Supreme Council members, and other key party officials.
On the 28th, he will meet with all Democratic Party lawmakers at Cheong Wa Dae.
Kang Yoo-jung, Senior Presidential Spokesperson, announced, "President Lee plans to invite Democratic Party lawmakers to the Yeongbin-gwan (State Guest House) at Cheong Wa Dae on the 28th for a luncheon."
The Democratic Party lawmakers are scheduled to attend a workshop in Incheon starting from the 27th—the day before the luncheon—for a two-day, one-night schedule to prepare for the regular parliamentary session, and are expected to head straight to Cheong Wa Dae afterward.
In August of last year, President Lee also invited all lawmakers to Cheong Wa Dae during the Democratic Party workshop, emphasizing unity between the administration and the ruling party.
President Lee's consecutive engagements with ruling party lawmakers are also interpreted as a move to mend internal factional rifts that surfaced during the August 17 national convention.
On the 19th, just two days after the convention concluded, he invited Kim Min-seok, Jung Cheong-rae, and Song Young-gil, who ran for party leadership, to Cheong Wa Dae for dinner, emphasizing that the administration and the ruling party are an "interdependent community of fate."
