English Premier League side Brentford secured a comfortable 3-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur in their opening match of the season.
Defender Kim Ji-soo, who was included in the first-team squad, was left out of the matchday squad.
Brentford earned a dominant 3-0 win over Tottenham in the Round 1 home match of the 2026–2027 EPL season held at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, England, today (the 23rd).
Kim, who had raised expectations by making Brentford's first-team squad announced ahead of the season opener, ultimately failed to make the cut for the opening game.
His name was missing from both the starting lineup and the substitutes' bench.
During his loan spell at 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Kaiserslautern last season, Kim made 18 appearances in official matches and scored one goal.
Brentford easily sliced through Tottenham's loose defensive line, netting all three goals in the first half alone.
In the 12th minute of the first half, Keane Lewis-Potter capitalized on a cutback from Mamadou Sangaré, firing a shot from right in front of the goal area to open the scoring. Vitaly Janelt then added the second goal in the 33rd minute.
During stoppage time in the first half, Michael Kayode scored amidst a goalmouth scramble to put the finishing touch on the 3-0 victory.
