As trade negotiations between the U.S. and Canada collapsed, leading the U.S. to impose a 50% tariff on 20 billion dollars worth of Canadian goods, Canada has fought back by announcing retaliatory tariffs.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated, "We will respond dollar for dollar," announcing plans to impose retaliatory tariffs on U.S. steel, dairy products, electronics, and other goods starting on the 8th of next month.

Specific items and tariff rates are scheduled to be announced at a later date.

In response to Canada's announcement of retaliatory tariffs, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer signaled counter-measures and warned of further retaliation, raising the likelihood that the tariff conflict between the two countries will flare up once again.
