Heavy rains and showers lashed various regions today.

This was due to strong rain clouds developing and flowing in along the edge of the North Pacific high-pressure system.

Some areas experienced torrential downpours, with Seocho-gu in Seoul receiving over 24 mm per hour and Uljin recording over 60 mm per hour.

The rain is expected to continue mainly in the Seoul metropolitan area and the Yeongseo region until early tomorrow morning.

The expected rainfall ranges from 5 to 60 mm.

Meanwhile, tomorrow marks Cheoseo, the solar term when the summer heat is supposed to fade away.

However, as the influence of the North Pacific high-pressure system expands slightly further, hot and humid weather will grip the entire country.

Seoul's daytime high is forecast to reach 33°C (91°F), about 6 degrees higher than today, while Yangsan is expected to soar to around 35°C (95°F).

Showers are also forecast for some western areas tomorrow afternoon.

Tonight will remain muggy and stifling.

Tomorrow's morning low in Seoul is expected to be 25°C (77°F), bringing a tropical night, while daytime temperatures are set to climb as high as 35°C (95°F) in Changwon.

Sweltering weather is projected to persist into next week, with daytime highs in Seoul hovering around 32°C (90°F). Meanwhile, the 18th typhoon currently moving northward is likely to head toward China, but because some volatility remains, the situation will need to be monitored until early next week.
