As hot and humid air flows in from the west, heavy rain is currently pounding the Seoul metropolitan area and inland Gangwon Province.

As you can see on the screen, rain accompanied by gusty winds continues in Seoul as well.

Looking at the radar imagery, torrential downpours of 30 to 50 millimeters per hour are pelting other areas like Gapyeong and Chuncheon, prompting heavy rain warnings.

You will need to stay alert for strong showers across the country through this evening.

In particular, the southern coast of South Gyeongsang Province, where recovery efforts from previous damage are not yet complete, has extremely weakened soil. Therefore, extra caution and safety measures are necessary against strong showers to prevent further damage.

Meanwhile, heatwave warnings remain in effect for regions south of Chungcheong.

Tomorrow marks Cheoseo, the traditional solar term when the intense heat is supposed to subside, but the expansion of the North Pacific high pressure will actually make it even hotter.

Tomorrow's daytime high in Seoul is expected to reach 33°C (91°F).

Looking at tomorrow morning's temperatures, many areas will stay above 25°C (77°F), bringing tropical nights, and tomorrow's daytime high in Cheongju is forecast to soar up to 35°C (95°F).

Daytime heat is expected to persist into next week as well.
