A fire broke out in a moving large freight truck on a highway in Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and was extinguished in about an hour.

At around 5:00 p.m. today (August 21), a report was received that a fire had broken out in a 2.5-ton refrigerated truck driven by a man in his 50s inside the Cheongdo No. 2 Tunnel on the Daegu-Busan Expressway heading toward Daegu.

Fire authorities deployed about 20 personnel and around 10 pieces of equipment to extinguish the blaze by approximately 6:00 p.m.

While no one was injured in the incident, the truck and the fish and other cargo loaded inside were reportedly burned down entirely.

In addition, vehicle traffic in the area was restricted for about an hour due to the aftermath of the accident management, causing traffic disruptions.

Police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the incident, focusing on the possibility that the fire was caused by an overheated cooling unit.
