Three workers suffered electric shocks at a Daejeon Metro Line 2 tram construction site in Eupnae-dong, Daedeok-gu, Daejeon, at around 10:11 a.m. today (August 21).

The accident occurred while three workers in their 60s were moving and installing streetlights using a crane at the site, leaving them with burns on their hands and feet. They were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital.

All of them are reportedly not in life-threatening condition.

According to the police and the Daejeon Regional Employment and Labor Administration, the accident is believed to have happened when the crane deployed for the streetlight relocation work came into contact with a high-voltage power line.

Authorities reported that safety devices, such as protective conduits, were not properly installed on the high-voltage lines near the construction site at the time of the crane operation.

Police and labor authorities have issued a partial work suspension order for the construction site and are investigating the exact circumstances involving construction company officials and safety managers.
