Kim Dong-hwan, who plotted to murder six people, including a fellow airline pilot he worked with, and killed one of them last March, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the first trial.
The Busan District Court stated the reason for the sentencing, explaining that Kim committed the crime after meticulous preparation, and psychological analysis showed a high risk of reoffending, making it necessary to permanently isolate him from society.
During previous trials, Kim claimed that the victims, who graduated from the Air Force Academy, had ostracized and disadvantaged him. When the presiding judge asked if he felt any remorse toward the victims, Kim replied, "No, because they are the perpetrators."
