As a heartwarming moment of BTS member Jimin hugging a young girl battling childhood cancer and kissing her on the forehead during a concert went viral worldwide, the subsequent donation relay sparked by the scene is continuing.
During his concert at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on the 15th (local time), Jimin stepped down from the stage, hugged 10-year-old childhood cancer patient Olivia, kissed her cheek, and gave her a keyring as a gift. Olivia became a hot topic after shouting, "I got kissed!" with a bright smile about the moment.
Triggered by this scene, a fundraising campaign launched by the childhood cancer support non-profit organization Heroes For Children has surpassed its goal twice over. The initial target of $50,000 (approximately 69 million won) was achieved within two days, and as of the 20th, it has ballooned to over $84,000 (approximately 110 million won).
An official from Heroes For Children stated, "We are amazed that such a result came about overnight through the voluntary participation of fans, even though nothing was planned in advance and we never asked for donations."
Heroes For Children also released vlogs of five pediatric cancer patients who were at the concert at the time, including Olivia, who received the keyring gift from Jimin. In the video, Olivia kept holding and showing the keyring she received from Jimin, saying that this concert was a meaningful experience that cannot be measured by numbers.
