SBS's "Unanswered Questions" is set to delve into the hidden face of Jeong Jae-hwan, a murderer who brutally killed a friend of ten years and rampaged in the nude.
Airing on the 22nd, "Unanswered Questions" will be broadcast under the subtitle "The Naked Murderer and the Live-Broadcast Death - Why Did Jeong Jae-hwan Kill His Friend?".
In the early hours of July 4, a 20-something young man named Heo Min-seok (pseudonym) was brutally murdered with a weapon at an apartment in Gyeongsan, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The suspect was none of other than his friend of ten years, Jeong Jae-hwan (24). The victim's body bore more than 50 weapon wounds, an 18-centimeter-long laceration, and even bite marks.
Immediately after the crime, Jeong came outside the apartment in the nude, covered in blood, and wandered the streets for about an hour. Although CCTV footage captured him walking out of a convenience store with milk without paying and leisurely evading the dispatched police, he has been consistently feigning ignorance, claiming, "I was drunk and do not remember anything."
The production team of "Unanswered Questions" focused on a 21-minute phone call recorded on the phones of friends who were heading to the scene after receiving a call from Min-seok at the time of the incident. Over the receiver, the victim's voice saying, "Jae-hwan, it hurts so much. My intestines feel like they are spilling out," and the brutal circumstances of Jeong's crime were captured.
As a result of the production team amplifying the sound and improving the audio quality with experts, Jeong's shocking voice and hidden true nature surfaced. Is his claim that he cannot remember due to being drunk actually true?
The secrets of that night contained in the 21-minute live-broadcast audio and the true face of naked murderer Jeong Jae-hwan will be revealed on "Unanswered Questions," airing at 11:10 PM on Saturday, the 22nd.
