Instead of visiting famous tourist spots, traveling into local communities to eat and experience daily life is gaining popularity.

The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization is running a travel program called "Gyeonggi on the Weekend" in collaboration with local residents of Gyeonggi Province.

Instead of touring famous attractions, travelers can stroll through vineyards to taste freshly picked grapes, hike neighborhood hills with local residents, and experience local food and culture.

In Icheon, a trip themed around rice and ceramics has also been organized, allowing visitors to taste local meals and experience pottery workshops.

Moving away from simple sightseeing and photo-taking, "local travel"—where visitors spend a day like a local and experience everyday life there—is drawing attention as a new travel trend.
