Rain Expected in Capital Area and Gangwon... Heatwave Warnings Issued for Parts of Southern Regions

Today (August 21), rain is forecast mainly in the capital area and Gangwon Province.

The rain is expected to continue until tomorrow morning.

Looking at the expected rainfall, 10 to 60 mm of rain is predicted for Incheon and northern Gyeonggi Province, while Seoul and other parts of the central region will see 5 to up to 50 mm of rain.

Showers are forecast for regions south of Chungcheong Province.

Caution is advised as heavy downpours of up to 50 mm are possible.

Meanwhile, heatwave advisories have been upgraded to warnings in parts of South Gyeongsang and South Jeolla provinces.

Tropical night advisories also remain in place mainly across the southern regions, with oppressive heat expected to persist through the night.

Taking a closer look at today's daytime temperatures, Seoul will hover around 30°C (86°F), while Daegu will rise to 33°C (91°F) and Gwangju to 35°C (95°F).

Next week is expected to see high volatility due to weather variables such as typhoons.

There is also a possibility of showers mainly centered around inland areas.

Even after the Cheoseo solar term passes, oppressive heat and tropical nights are expected to continue.
