Power outages occurred at four apartment complexes in Dajeong-dong and Saerom-dong, Sejong City, at around 7:20 p.m. today (August 20).

According to the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), the outage was caused by a transient power line issue in the Dajeong-dong and Saerom-dong areas.

KEPCO explained that while its electricity supply normalized within five seconds, under-voltage relays (UVRs)—protective devices owned and managed independently by the apartment complexes—malfunctioned, cutting off the electricity supply to the four complexes.

Power was restored immediately at two of the complexes right after the blackout, and restoration for the remaining complexes was fully completed at around 8:20 p.m., KEPCO added.
