The Japan Football Association (JFA) announced that an investigation into Japanese referees involved in allegations of inappropriate hospitality during international matches held in South Korea between 2011 and 2012 found "no evidence to confirm such facts."

The JFA held a board meeting in Tokyo this afternoon (August 20) and subsequently held a briefing to announce the results of its investigation into the seven Japanese referees targeted by the allegations.

Based on reports by South Korean media, the JFA stated that six of the seven targeted Japanese referees were interviewed directly by an external lawyer, while the remaining one was investigated via written questionnaire.

As a result, the JFA stated that it "could not confirm" any activities leading to the manipulation of match results or inappropriate hospitality.

The JFA stated that it will conclude its investigation into this matter at the present stage and respond again if new facts come to light.
