Police have concluded that there is no basis for allegations that singer MC Mong (real name Shin Dong-hyun) received proxy prescriptions for sleeping pills from his former manager.

The Seoul Gangnam Police Station announced today (the 20th) that it decided not to forward the case against Shin, who had been accused of violating the Narcotics Control Act, on the 18th.

Police stated that although they conducted investigations into the relevant parties, sufficient evidence to acknowledge guilt could not be found.

Police also explained that they requested a detailed narcotics test on Shin by the National Forensic Service and decided to clear him based on the negative test results.

The investigation into this case began following a complaint filed by Lim Hyun-taek, former president of the Korean Medical Association.

Earlier this year, Lim filed a complaint with the prosecution alleging that Shin had been prescribed Zolpidem, a psychotropic substance, under the name of his former manager.

After the Daejeon Seobu Police Station, which was assigned the case, questioned Lim as the complainant, the Gangnam Police Station, which has jurisdiction over Shin's residence, took over the subsequent investigation.
