Vernon of the group Seventeen, who holds dual citizenship in South Korea and the United States, released a new song on the very day he entered the training camp.
Vernon is set to enter the training camp today to receive basic military training and subsequently fulfill his military service as a public service worker. Born to a South Korean father and an American mother, Vernon is known to hold dual citizenship in both countries.
Meanwhile, Vernon will meet fans by releasing his new digital single "I'll Be Back" at 6 p.m. today. The track is an electronic genre song highlighting pop sensibilities, which previously received a positive response when it was first unveiled as a live performance at the "2026 VERNON THE 8 [V8] LIVE" concert last July. Vernon participated directly in the lyric writing and composing of the song, infusing sincere messages for his fans into the lyrical track.
Vernon has been recognized for his broad musical spectrum by releasing solo tracks across various genres, including "Mia" from his V8 1st mini album, "Shining Star (Vernon Solo)" included in Seventeen's 5th full-length album, and his mixtape "Black Eye." In addition, he has continued active creative endeavors, spearheading the production of the V8 album alongside The 8 and collaborating with prominent domestic and international artists.
Previously, his agency, Pledis Entertainment, announced the news of Vernon's fulfillment of military duty, stating, "Please refrain from visiting the training camp entrance site and the alternative service workplace," and adding, "We ask for your unchanging love and support from Carats [fandom name] so that Vernon can faithfully fulfill his military duty and return in good health."
Vernon's expected discharge date is May 19, 2028.
