When an unidentified video circulated online claiming to show an "exposed video" of singer Jennie, formerly of BLACKPINK, her agency ultimately took strong action.
The controversial video was from her performance at "Summer Sonic 2026," held on August 14 at the ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba, Japan.
Debates sparked online after the footage included a scene that appeared to expose parts of Jennie's body during the concert.
Amid mixed opinions over whether the video was "manipulated using AI" or not, the footage surpassed 10 million views and spread uncontrollably.
As the controversy grew, Jennie's agency, OA Entertainment, released an official statement yesterday announcing that it is taking civil and criminal legal action against acts of maliciously editing, processing, and distributing photos and videos of Jennie.
In particular, the agency stated that it will actively take necessary legal measures against acts of repeatedly posting specific scenes or distributing them in connection with false facts.
The agency made it clear that there will be no settlements or leniency, adding that it will continue ongoing monitoring and systematic responses moving forward.
On August 16, Jennie, who had tears in her eyes after facing microphone malfunctions during the performance and even a wardrobe malfunction due to the hot weather, posted her feelings on social media.
She shared that there were many unexpected moments and ups and downs, but all of those moments helped her grow, expressing her desire to cherish even the difficult moments with love, joy, and memories.
