Casey Yu-jin Phair, a forward for the South Korean women's national football team who holds the record for the youngest appearance in a FIFA World Cup, has joined the Dutch club Feyenoord.
Feyenoord, a team in the Dutch Vrouwen Eredivisie (women's first division), announced today (August 19) that they have signed Phair from the American club Angel City FC.
The contract runs for three years until the summer of 2029.
Through the club, Phair expressed her thoughts, saying, "I am proud to continue my football career at Feyenoord," and adding, "I want to help the team in every possible way."
Describing herself, she said, "I am a physically strong player who likes to move a lot and score goals."
Born in 2007 to an American father and a Korean mother, Phair was selected for the South Korean senior women's national team in 2023. That year, at the FIFA Women's World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand, she set the record for the youngest appearance in tournament history at 16 years and 26 days old.
This is the all-time youngest appearance record, not only for South Korea but globally across both men's and women's World Cups.
Later, Phair made her professional debut in 2024 after joining Angel City of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), and last year, she gained experience in the European stage by being loaned to Djurgårdens IF in Sweden.
She has made 24 appearances for the national A-team, scoring 5 goals.
