BLACKPINK member Jennie's agency has announced a firm legal response following controversy over circulating online videos regarding an unexpected wardrobe situation during her music festival performance.
Jennie performed as a headliner at "Summer Sonic 2026," which took place on August 14 at the ZOZO Marine Stadium and Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, and on August 16 at the Expo Commemoration Park in Osaka. As the first Korean solo artist to headline the festival, Jennie delivered a solo set lasting about an hour. During the performance, she was captured adjusting her top and turning around several times while appearing concerned about her outfit, and signaling microphone equipment issues to the staff. She also directly explained to the audience that the hotter-than-expected weather and sweat had caused issues with her outfit, asking for their understanding.
Following the concert, videos of Jennie's performance spread rapidly across social media and online communities. Among them, controversy arose over certain clips that appeared to show a part of her body exposed due to the shifting outfit, with the video spreading and surpassing 10 million views.
In response, Jennie's agency, OA Entertainment, released an official statement on August 18 announcing plans for legal action. The agency stated, "We have continuously identified groundless slander, the spread of false information, malicious editing and processing of photos and videos, and posts or distribution that infringe upon privacy and personal rights regarding Jennie, centered around recent online communities and social media," adding that civil and criminal legal actions are currently underway.
The agency also emphasized, "We plan to actively take necessary legal measures depending on the content and severity of the case against acts such as maliciously editing or reprocessing Jennie's physical features, repeatedly posting, reposting, or distributing specific scenes from photos or videos, and posting or distributing insulting expressions or false information," making it clear that there will be no settlement or leniency in this process.
