Actor Ma Dong-seok is set to join the Netflix action franchise 'Extraction 3'.
On the 17th (local time), Netflix announced the main cast for 'Extraction 3' and signaled the official kickoff of production. Alongside Ma Dong-seok, new additions include Pierce Brosnan, Joe Taslim, Chi Lewis-Parry, and Sienna Agudong, while Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, and Golshifteh Farahani will also star.
Sam Hargrave, who directed the previous installments, will return to helm the film, with David Weil of 'Citadel' penning the screenplay.
'Extraction 3' follows Tyler Rake, played by Chris Hemsworth, as he embarks on a new mission. However, specific plot details and the roles of the newly joined actors have not yet been revealed. Known to span several months of location shooting, the film promises an expanded scale of action.
Previously, Ma Dong-seok took on the role of Taigo, a mercenary of war orphan background, in the Netflix film 'Taigo'. 'Taigo' tells the story of Taigo embarking on a life-risking operation to rescue Leah, whom he considers family, after she is kidnapped by a criminal organization during a critical mission. Also starring Lee Jin-wook and BLACKPINK's Lisa, the project is currently preparing for its Netflix release.
From filming South Korea's top box-office action franchise 'The Roundup: Punishment' to 'Taigo' and 'Extraction 3', Ma Dong-seok continues his active streak across large-scale domestic and international action projects. Anticipation is building over what kind of synergy Ma Dong-seok, renowned for his signature heavy physique and punchy action style, will display alongside Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba in 'Extraction 3'.
Ma Dong-seok is currently in the middle of filming the movie 'The Roundup: Punishment'.
