Just as the weather was starting to feel a bit cooler, the heat has returned.

This is because the North Pacific High, a representative summer air mass in South Korea, has expanded its influence once again.

Tomorrow (August 19), as the high-pressure system moves slightly further north, moisture will flow in along its edge, bringing light rain to some western regions between early dawn and morning.

Additionally, during the afternoon when surface temperatures rise, the atmosphere will become unstable, causing shower clouds to develop in various places.

Let us look at the expected rainfall amounts.

Until tomorrow morning, 5 to 30 mm of rain is expected in southern Chungcheong, western Gyeongnam, and the Honam regions, and a few raindrops may also fall in the Seoul metropolitan area during the morning commute.

Shower clouds are expected to develop in the afternoon, and localized heavy showers of up to 60 mm could pour down, particularly centered around the southern regions.

Especially in the southern coastal areas of Gyeongnam, the ground has become significantly weakened, so you must exercise special caution against safety accidents.

Meanwhile, heat advisories were expanded to various parts of the country, including Seoul, once again today.

Tropical night advisories have also been issued mainly for some coastal areas, and tropical nights are expected tonight in some coastal regions such as Gangneung and Busan.

Tomorrow's daytime temperatures will rise to 32°C (90°F) in Seoul and 33°C (91°F) in Gwangju.

Sweltering heat of around 33°C (91°F) will continue for the time being, and the heat will subside somewhat as rain falls in the central regions from Friday evening to Saturday morning.
