The Chungju Police Station in North Chungcheong Province announced that it is transferring a man in his 40s, identified as A, to prosecutors under custody today (August 18) on charges of repeatedly sexually assaulting his teenage stepdaughter.

A is accused of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter, B, multiple times at their home from early this year until early this month under charges including sexual misconduct by family relatives under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, sexual intercourse by leverage under the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles against Sexual Abuse, and violation of the Child Welfare Act.

He is also suspected of touching B's body in 2024 at their home under the pretext of giving her a massage.

According to the investigation, it was revealed that he sexually assaulted B in the master bedroom even when two other elementary school-aged children were at home.

A is reportedly admitting to only some of the crimes.

Previously, the police emergency-arrested A on the 5th after receiving a report from the biological mother, who had learned about the victimization from B.

However, prosecutors reportedly determined that the urgency requirement was not met because time had elapsed since the final crime, turning down the police request to approve the emergency arrest. Prosecutors also twice rejected requests for a pre-trial detention warrant, instructing the police to supplement their investigation by questioning witnesses such as the elementary school-aged children.
