▲ Rebuilding Korea Party Supreme Council Member Shin Chang-sik speaks during a supreme council meeting and joint meeting of lawmakers held at the National Assembly on the 18th.
Shin Chang-sik called on the new leadership, including Democratic Party Representative Kim Min-seok, today (the 18th), saying, "If the so-called 'Table of Light' meetings involving the Democratic Party, the Rebuilding Korea Party, the Progressive Party, the Basic Income Party, and the Social Democratic Party are restarted, the hearts of the citizens who held up cheering light sticks will once again unite completely."
During the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly today, Shin stated, "Now is the time for the Democratic Party to remember the original intent of that day when people held up cheering light sticks," adding, "Let us form a practical consultative body encompassing the democratic and progressive camps."
He said, "I believe the essence of the problem currently facing the ruling camp is a 'trust risk.' Citizens are harboring doubts about whether the Lee Jae-myung administration is turning into a government solely for the Democratic Party, and the Democratic Party must respect the Rebuilding Korea Party as an ally."
At the same time, he emphasized, "Solidarity and integration must contribute to reform and the advancement of South Korea," adding, "Integration that seeks to embrace everything and unprincipled integration that tarnishes the light of the three major reforms established in the plaza of cheering light sticks will not help South Korea succeed."
Meanwhile, the Rebuilding Korea Party is currently carrying out the selection process for provincial and regional party chairpersons.
In relation to this, Floor Leader Kim Jun-hyung has run as the sole candidate for the Seoul City Party Chairperson, lawmaker Seo Wang-jin for the South Jeolla-Gwangju Unified Special City Party Chairperson, and lawmaker Kim Sun-min for the Gyeonggi Provincial Party Chairperson.
