Children presumed to be middle school students carried out a theft at an unmanned store in Gwangyang. They smashed an unmanned cash register with a hammer in an attempt to target cash, and also consumed drinks and ice cream without paying.

They repeated their crimes at this store alone no less than four times. They were caught by the police during their first crime, but after it was confirmed that they were minors under the age of criminal responsibility, they reportedly went on to commit theft yet again.

It was also revealed that in late May, they stole 4 million won worth of Pokémon cards from another unmanned store. With thefts by teenagers at unmanned stores showing no end, what is the reason behind these recurring incidents?
