Nationwide Housing Sales Consumer Sentiment Rises in July, Up 0.7 Points From Previous Month

Consumer sentiment for nationwide housing sales edged up last month, maintaining an upward trend.

According to the real estate market consumer sentiment survey released by the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) today (the 18th), the consumer sentiment index for the nationwide housing sales market rose 0.7 points from the previous month to 119.5, sustaining an upward phase.

The real estate market consumer sentiment index is surveyed monthly targeting real estate agencies and general households operating across 152 cities, counties, and districts nationwide.

An index exceeding 100 indicates that there are more responses stating that prices have risen or transactions have increased.

A reading below 95 is classified as a downward phase, 95 or above and below 115 as a stagnant phase, and 115 or above as an upward phase.

The consumer sentiment index for the housing sales market in the Seoul metropolitan area stood at 128.5, up 1.1 points from the previous month, maintaining its upward phase.

Seoul (139.9) rose 1.9 points and Incheon (114.0) climbed 7.0 points, while Gyeonggi Province (125.1) fell 0.6 points.

Non-metropolitan areas (109.0) inched up 0.2 points, continuing a stagnant phase.

The consumer sentiment index for the housing jeonse (lump-sum deposit lease) market nationwide dropped 0.3 points to 112.7, maintaining a stagnant phase.

The metropolitan area (118.3) declined 1.1 points but kept its upward phase.

Seoul (121.8) and Gyeonggi Province (117.4) fell 2.0 points and 0.7 points, respectively, while Incheon (113.4) remained unchanged from the previous month.

Non-metropolitan areas (106.2) rose 0.4 points, maintaining a stagnant phase.

The combined real estate market consumer sentiment index for housing and land nationwide was 112.6, up 0.3 points from the previous month.
