The fourth installment of the "Tazza" series, the movie "Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub," has confirmed its theatrical release for September 23 (Wednesday), the day before the start of the Chuseok holiday.
"Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub" is a crime film about Jang Tae-young (Byun Yo-han), who thought he had the world in his hands through an online casino business, and his close friend of the same name, Park Tae-young (Noh Jae-won), who took everything away from him, as they reunite in a global gambling ring for a fateful showdown of revenge. The film stars Byun Yo-han, Roh Jae-won, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Jo Woo Jin.
This work is the final installment of the "Tazza" series, based on Huh Young-man's original manga, celebrating its 20th anniversary. After the film adaptation was confirmed, during a meeting with director Choi Kook-hee, author Huh Young-man picked "Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub" as his favorite story in the entire series.
Director Choi Kook-hee, who helmed the film, recalled that day, saying, "I remember asking back then why such a great manga wasn't being made into a film. That made me think I needed to make it even better."
Unlike the previous three films, "Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub" deeply delves into the relationship between two friends. The subtitle "The Song of Beelzebub" is taken directly from the original manga. Among the works presented by the nationally beloved Huh Young-man, who has showcased various works over the past 52 years, "The Song of Beelzebub" boasts the most solid fan base.
Religious people in medieval Europe considered cards to be tools of the devil, with hearts representing desire, diamonds representing greed, and clubs representing violence. The 13 spade cards, which symbolize death, were each named after a demon, with the Ace of Spades being Lucifer, the fallen angel who fell to hell, and the 2 of Spades being Beelzebub, the former ruler of hell. Among the two demons who gambled everything, Beelzebub, who lost, was reduced to a blowfly.
Roh Jae-won, who plays a leading role, explained the meaning of the title, saying, "The movie begins with Park Tae-young telling the story of how two demons gambled everything they had, and Beelzebub, who lost, turned into a blowfly."
The grand finale of the "Tazza" series, "Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub," will be available in theaters on September 23.
